Millie Hurtt is a dynamic leader in the field of affordable housing development, currently serving as Vice President, and Development Officer at RiverHills Bank since November 2022 where she works with clients on debt structuring for LIHTC projects. With a rich history of contributions in various sectors, Millie’s dedication to creating affordable housing solutions and empowering women has left a significant mark on the industry.

Millie is a passionate advocate for the empowerment of women in the affordable housing sector. In 2019, she helped found and assumed the role of President for the Ohio Women’s Affordable Housing Network (OWAHN), and in 2021, she helped found and became the Founding Vice President of the National Women’s Affordable Housing Network (WAHN). Under her leadership, these organizations have made significant strides in advancing the opportunities of women in the affordable housing industry and service to those living in affordable housing.

Furthermore, Millie is the visionary founder of the National WAHN initiative NET-WORK (National Equity Together takes WORK). This initiative focuses on three crucial areas:

Pay Equity: Advocating for fair and equal compensation for women in the workforce.

Fair and Equal Parental Leave: Working towards policies that ensure every individual has access to reasonable parental leave, irrespective of gender or role.

Closing the Opportunity Gap: Implementing strategies to level the playing field and provide equal opportunities for advancement and growth.

From May 2014 to October 2022, Millie was an integral part of Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH). Her tenure included a pivotal role as Vice President of Affordable Housing Lending for Ohio Capital Finance Corporation (OCCH’s CDFI lending affiliate), where she worked closely with the Executive Director on all aspects of OCFC’s lending transactions and reporting.

Earlier in her career, as a Program Specialist for OCCH, Millie played a crucial role in the disposition of tax credit projects that reached the 15-year compliance period, demonstrating her expertise in navigating complex compliance landscapes. She also spearheaded the administration of Ohio Capital Impact Corporation’s Place-Based Strategies Fund, a grant program aimed at bolstering communities where OCCH investments were located.

Prior to her tenure at OCCH, Millie distinguished herself at Cleveland Housing Network, Inc. as an Assistant Project Manager. Here, she led the development of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects from concept to construction completion, showcasing her knack for turning vision into reality. Her multifaceted experience extends to her role at the Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation, where she managed the compliance and monitoring of the county’s substantial NSP 2 Grant.

Millie’s commitment to sustainable urban planning and development is underscored by her educational background. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Economics from Kent State University and a Masters of Urban Planning, Design, and Development from Cleveland State University. Furthermore, her certification as a Housing Development Finance Professional through the National Development Council attests to her expertise in the field.
