Navigating Affordable Housing Documents: Understanding, Analyze, Apply Audits, Tax Returns, Operating Agreements & More Program Overview Affordable housing professionals interact with complex financial and legal documents every day-from audits and tax returns to operating agreements, partnership reporting, investor communications, and ownership documents. This series is designed to help participants decode these documents and understand what matters most to their role. The goal is not to create accountants, auditors, tax professionals, or attorneys. The goal is recognition, escalation, and better questions. Participants will learn how to: • Understand what each document is designed to accomplish • Recognize important information and potential risks • Know when additional questions should be asked • Understand when concerns should be escalated • Become more confident participating in financial and ownership discussions Learning Philosophy This program is designed to build literacy-not advanced technical proficiency. Success is measured by whether participants can identify issues, ask thoughtful questions, and understand how documents affect affordable housing operations and ownership outcomes. Join Los Angeles Women in Affordable Housing Network – LA (WAHN) for a happy hour on Tuesday, September 1 from 5:00-7:00 pm 🍹. We are inviting the men and other allies who show up for the women driving affordable housing in communities across the country. Expect good drinks, interesting conversation, and a chance to connect with people building, financing, supporting, and ensuring residents have access to affordable housing. No agenda, no panel — just a space to network and celebrate the work. Bring a colleague in the space or one who is interested in learning more!—an informal space for colleagues, partners, and friends who want to actively support women in the affordable housing sector. Join the Indiana Housing Conference Day of Service Hosted by IWAHN 🏡 Spend a day alongside women leaders, partners, and neighbors as we support safe, affordable housing across Indiana. By signing up, you’ll help with hands-on projects that strengthen local communities throughout Indiana. We are excited to have three options to choose from this year! 1) Our onsite project will be at the same hotel as the Indiana Housing Conference (Indianapolis Marriott Downtown) where we will assemble welcome kits for supportive housing residents at properties owned by South Bend Heritage Foundation and Continental Management. A special thank you to Huntington Bank as Executive Sponsor, and the Glick Foundation as Promoter Sponsor, for sponsoring the welcome kits! 2) You can also choose one of two offsite locations – Wheeler Mission and Second Helpings. Both organizations have projects that need volunteers to help with their programs. More details to come closer to Day of Service. When registering, please select only one option. Presented by the MNWAHN Education Committee, we invite you to join us for Deal Making 301: Negotiating a Tax Credit Investor LOI - the third session in a four-part series exploring the affordable housing development process. Designed as both a standalone yet complementary session to Deal Making 101 and 201, prior attendance at a Deal Making session is not necessary to join.
